This specification is mostly used for public sector projects, in some cases this is a statutory requirement. Whilst arguably the more flexible, it gives up to 72 possible 'grades' or permutations
|Loading||6 ultimate load classes = 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12 kN|
|Maximum panel deflection under load||2.5mm, 3.0mm, 4.0mm|
|Loading safety factor||x2 or x3|
|Dimensional tolerance (8 panel measures considered)||Classes 1 & 2 with class 2 the least stringent|
There are several other performance requirements, with test methods for each; however no guidance is given on suitability for defined applications, which becomes the responsibility of the specifier. It is this that makes the BSEN a technically more difficult specification to interpret with confidence.
